After what has been described as the toughest Dakar on the South American continent, Attwater supported rider, Lyndon Poskitt from St Michaels on Wyre has successfully become the first rider to ride to the start of the race and finish. Not just a finish though, Lyndon managed to bring home 2nd position in the Malle Moto, unsupported class which is known as being the hardest way to compete in the race. Lyndon Poskitt, the motorcycle racer from St Michael’s on Wyre in Lancashire, has an insatiable desire to achieve more. But after you’ve already completed the gruelling Dakar Rally, which he did in 2013, what could be more challenging?

The Dakar Rally is already the longest and most arduous race in the world. How do you top finishing 46th overall (out of more 200 motorcycle competitors) as well as a top 10 stage finish?

Attwater and Custom Composites’ sturdy rollers help launch RNLI craft

Attwater & Sons Ltd has been supplying materials to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for several years for use on the new Shannon Class All Weather Lifeboats, so it is fitting that the RNLI has called upon composite tube specialist Custom Composites, part of the Attwater Group to provide the rollers that will help launch the new Shannon Class All Weather Lifeboat at the new £3.5 million Swanage lifeboat Station.

Industrial laminated products specialists Attwater and Custom Composites will display advanced carbon fibre marine products and a range of their best selling laminates, when they return to the Composites Engineering show for the seventh year.

The Lancashire company has become a familiar face at the industry show this year has a bigger stand to showcase more exhibits.

Attwater tours Europe

Attwater technical controller Matt D’Arcy has been clocking up the air miles in his quest to keep his laminates company at the forefront of the industry.

Along with two colleagues, Matt contributed to the European Electrical Insulation Manufacturers AGM in Berlin, followed by a visit to the Coil Winding exhibition where Attwater was able to meet with other suppliers and share insight on the state of the industry.

Testing testing

Attwater, the industrial laminates specialist, has expanded its in-house testing facility with the construction of a furnace-hardened steel fixture.

The apparatus has been designed and built to test gasket materials, and adds another dimension to the company’s facilities which already boast more than 30 methods of testing materials and components.

Phil's Long Service (50 years)

Phil Parker started work at Attwater in the year England won the world cup. And while the national team has failed to recreate its moment of glory Phil’s career has gone from strength to strength.

Now retiring after 50 years the head of the joiner’s shop has been looking back at a successful and enjoyable career where half a century has simply flown by.

Mark's Long Service (25 Years)

Mark Burrow did not get off to the best start when he joined Attwater in 1990. Just a couple of months after beginning his job as a press operative the company went on a three day week and he was laid off. But he had already made a good impression and he was taken on again when business picked up.

Now he is celebrating 25 years with the company, where he has also worked as a tube winder and a turner before becoming turning department supervisor.

Attwater returns to the Composites Engineering show for 6th year

Attwater Group is once again exhibiting at the Composites Engineering Show when it returns for the sixth consecutive year in November.
