Attwater tours Europe to gain and share industry insight
Attwater technical controller Matt D’Arcy has been clocking up the air miles in his quest to keep his laminates company at the forefront of the industry.
Along with two colleagues, Matt contributed to the European Electrical Insulation Manufacturers AGM in Berlin, followed by a visit to the Coil Winding exhibition where Attwater was able to meet with other suppliers and share insight on the state of the industry.
Matt has also travelled to Vienna in his capacity as the UK’s Principal Expert to TC15 WG6 (Technical Committee 15, Working Group 6) on behalf of the British Standards Institute.
Here, he is charged with helping to maintain and update standards that fall under the scope of “Rigid fibrous reinforced laminates for electrical purposes” by the International Electrotechnical Commission.
Attwater’s international endeavours also included a fact-finding mission to Romania, where Matt was invited to tour a local facility.
He said: “To keep Attwater at the forefront of our industry, we need to source insight from customers, suppliers and colleagues around the world. This knowledge helps us drive forward our innovation and quality standards, keeping ahead of the pack and allowing us to give something back to our sector by contributing to the standards committees.
“Our role on an international stage is to forward comments from UK interested parties and help maintain standards to make sure they are still important for what we’re trying to achieve. It’s something Attwater has been involved with for many years and an aspect of my role which I find fascinating.”
Attwater, the Lancashire-based industrial laminates and machining specialist, services a wide variety of sectors including aerospace, power generation, marine and general engineering.
